Mazeena, who wears the buruga, was earlier known for her moderate views. But after the tsunami, she has become fundamentalist, like Dr. Nashida and Dr. Aishath Ali Naaz, who also now wears the buruga and follows a strictly religious approach rather than a scientific approach when giving councelling and psychotherapy. This is an atrocity against humanity. Most recently I heard, Mazeena claims that she will suffer in Hell for all the “sins of the flesh” committed by the underaged, and as head of the Children’s Rights Unit in Maldives, she gives written permission for parents to marry off their children who are not yet 18. The Maldives government under President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom, should be ashamed by this, especially since we are a signatory to the UN Child Rights Convention. I wonder when the Maldives media will expose Mazeena Jameel, who is also a non-elected member of parliament by the President, for the atrocities she is committing against children of Maldives in the name of religion and as head of the Children’s Rights Unit. Shame on you, Mazeena.
