Female Genital Mutilation Video (warning:disturbing images..used only for the purpose of education)

This is happening in Maldives. Not to the extent and severity as such as in the African or South East Asian countries. We all should join hands to eliminate these kinds of practices. Since sexual harassment, rape and child abuse is on the rise and supported by the present Maldivian government (they haven’t said a single word openly on the recent abuse of children and ridiculous court hearings publicly), we all should do what ever we can in our capacity to protect our children and the children to come.
How many of you know that 98% of females in Somalia has undergone the brutal and traumatic experience of circumcision? How many of you are aware of the fact that 95% of Egyptian women are circumcised? How many of you know that it is a widely practiced (newly introduced) tradition in Indonesia? How many of you know a Maldivian girl who has been circumcised. I know one.
I wrote a pretty good article on female genital mutilation and i have lost it some how. 
I cant find where i saved it in my pen drive. I am going to rewrite it soon, when time allows me. In the mean time here is a video. It is shocking. Do not miss the last video from Riz Khan from 2 nd august 2007.

I was aware of female cricumsism since long….as i read an article of an Etupioan Model( who is in west i think) who was chosen by the United Nations to talk about this issue.
I, as an muslim woman thinks this is really a shame on us…that we have such bad traditions on the name of Islam. Its really not in Islam and u cannot find a single verse in Holy Quran about female circumsism.
I think its the Government of the such countries where this is happeing to take septs and moreover to educated the communities about this ….what ever the UNICIF is doing ..they r going in very right direction….its time to talk about this…its time to do something to stop this.
It shoud not be shame for me to be woman anymore.

Doing that to a kid is well wrong, fucking bunch of sickos need 2 sort their heads out, in any respectable country that is child abuse their need to have a fresh look at their so called culture and sort it out!!

@toni howard :,I dont thik that is that easy to do,when you are a child and u were reased in familiy where is this normal. Nobody says to you: hey,my baby,that woman is going to hurt you,you are going to feel pain,. and stuff…As Waris said in the her firs book,she was exited to get over that,she was envy on her older sisters who were “clean”.Nobody wants to tell the truth…cuz its hurts.

I as a Reproductive and Family Health specialist , a university lecturer, researcher and clincian. I appreciate the efforts in this video which corroborate my research interest, especially on issues that affects the reproductive health of women and men in NIgerian society.
I will also try to send my researh reports for global world to benefit from the outcome.

this is so wrong in many ways, god made us jus like that and no one should try to change us because of what they believe , or because of tradition. we was born with our bodies one way , the way god wants it to be .hope they check them selfes and see they only hurting women with this stupidness. the bible never says to do this shit.

I felt extremely moved by watching this clip. I am already aware of what happens in Daarfur and during Genocide, and this is almost enough to be labeled a genocide. I have learned that FGm is just as serious as Darfur, or even the war in Iraq. If people don’t do anything to stop this, then it could continue in Africa until the entire population is wiped out. People need to learn about this and do something to stop it before it gets out of control.

I respect other cultures, I am taking a cultural diversity class at columbus state community college in ohio right now. I understand that certain cultures have certain traditions, like how in America most men are circumsized at birth. This could be seen as torture to other societies. I think that this is wrong. For both sexes, yes, for a male it is easier to keep his member clean without a forskin, but it should be that persons decision. I compare these practises to abortion. Only because in these circumstances, the child is not making a decision for himself or herself. The families who practice this see this as normal, but do these families practice abortion?? That’s what I would like to know. If they do not believe in abortion then they are very hypocritical to think that they can make a decision like this, to cut off and sew up an important part to the reproductive system for a women. This is torture. At least when boys are circumsized in America they are babies, therefore they won’t remember the pain, but this girl is 3??? Come on, I see it all as being ridiculous. Treat other human beings with respect, especially your children, because one day they will be the ones taking care of your old wrinkly ass.
p.s.-when boys are circumsized, removing the foreskin doesn’t affect his sexual pleasure, but removing a girls clit, completely ruins the experience of sex.
